Akademi
Uniform design for Akademi, Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia.
Akademi is a bar located in the Katamama Hotel lobby. Completely built out of beautiful tiles and terrazzo, It’s a space where their guests, their own bartender and those invited from around the world can come and connect, spend some time doing R&D with raw, locally sourced Indonesian produces.
Planting a philosophy they call “root to flower”, they create case studies focusing on single indigenous materials. Each month, a new ingredient is selected and one of Katamama’s bartenders takes the helm in experimenting on getting the most from it , utilizing all of its possible parts. These experiments then results in recipes, seasonal monthly cocktail menus presented to the guests through instructional illustrations.

With Akademi focusing on the experimental side of mixology, the uniform derived from the idea of a lab coat. To sit in and complement the eclectic interior, a simple white outerwear made of rayon silk is paired with black trousers and top, matching the rest of the Katamama hotel team. The white ‘lab coat’ has a clean minimal exterior, with inner pockets for utility purposes.
The garments are all produced locally in Bali and are developed together with the Katamama creative team in 2015
