Rollover Reaction
Multimedia Installation for Rollover Reaction, Jakarta, Indonesia in collaboration with Marshella Jastine.
Rollover Reaction is a makeup label based, established and produced in Indonesia. Being one of the pioneers of locally made modern beauty products, they are big believers in fuss-free beauty. They create ever-evolving products for the modern day Indonesian women, spreading the awareness that makeup should be fun and should celebrate everyone’s individuality.

RR opened their first offline store in 2018 and the clean and minimal space acts as a blank canvas for a continuously evolving visual merchandising, allowing artists and designers to create various installations as a part of the store.
The first installation created was an interpretation of their latest launch at the time; Chunky, a series of lip and cheek crayon. The series were inspired by the modern art movement that was void of any conservative values by experimenting with non-traditional colors, elements and mediums. The products were named after five revolutionary artists of the era; Pablo Picasso, Carlo Carra, Frida Kahlo, Romulo Maccio and Mark Rothko.

The installation features a framed collage of Picasso, Maccio and Rothko’s paintings, wrapped in digitally printed fabric of the collage, with assortments of glasses, papers, sponges, paint, brushes and crushed crayons of a vibrant palette laid out along with the products.
The second installation was an interpretation of their next launch, the Face Set. The Face mist, face wipe and lip balm are the essentials to take anywhere on the daily, to stay refreshed and hydrated. The installation took form of a collage of various types of textiles mixed with found beauty-related objects, a nod Rollover Reaction’s versatility in celebrating every different skin tone, skin types and each women’s uniqueness and individuality. The materials used ranged from mesh, digitally printed fabrics to PVC, creating different textures the viewers can touch, see and feel.
The two installations were done in 2018.
